Michael Ziegler
Education: Bialik High School Class of 2013, Dawson College Class of 2015, McGill Political Science Student. Born and raised in Montreal, the Canadiens have always been a big part of my life. What started out as a way to blow off some steam after a tough loss in the 2011 playoffs eventually became a popular hit with Facebook friends around the internet. On PGT, I like to dissect each and every Habs game and promote discussion about the team. Other interests: Aside from Hockey and sports in general, I love music. During the summer I work for Camp Wingate, a sleep-away sports camp just north of Montreal. 2014 Olympics: Team Canada Roster Predictions

The 2014 winter Olympics will be held in Sochi, Russia. And while we are still 2 years away, it is never to early to predict the roster that will be representing our country in the most important sporting event of the year.

GM: Steve Yzerman
Head Coach: Mike Babcock
Assistant Coaches: Ken Hitchcock, Kirk Muller

Forwards:
Taylor Hall - Sidney Crosby - Steven Stamkos
Rick Nash - Jonathan Toews - Claude Giroux
Corey Perry - Ryan Getzlaf - John Tavares
Jordan Eberle - Jordan Staal - Eric Staal
Tyler Seguin - Matt Duchene

Defense:
Shea Weber - Drew Doughty
Duncan Keith - Kris Letang
Brent Burns - PK Subban
Tyler Myers

Goalies:
Carey Price
Marc- Andre Fleury
Cam Ward

If I'm Hockey Canada, that's the coaching staff and management I'm putting together and if I'm Steve Yzerman that's what my squad would look like. Just remember that I did not exactly choose players based on their skill levels but instead, by need. For example, I don't believe Jordan Staal is more skilled than a player like Mike Richards or Jeff Carter. however, I do believe that he fits the role of a grinding/penalty killing/face-off winning 4th line center better than either of those players do. If you guys have any objections feel free to leave a comment, positive or negative. Tell me who you would take off the team, who you would replace them with and why.

  1. Somebody just pointed out to me that Tyler Myers could be a better option than Dion Phaneuf. What say you guys?

  2. I really think that Phaneuf will be nowhere near this team in 2014. You have to look at players like Myers, and even alex pietrangelo. Subban should have a shot but bring on the habs haters that say he won't have a chance. Totally agree with all three goalie selections

  3. Ya I'm looking back and I have no idea why I put Phaneuf here. If this is just a sophomore slump PK should be on the team, I put him as the 7th guy just because of the year he's having this year.

  4. Understandably so. I always find that there is some BS political seniority with these Olympic teams so I wouldn't be surprised if Luongo gets a long, hard look and that Fleury will be the start over Price. Which does not make sense. Put any goalie behind the Pens, they will have a chance to win.

  5. What many people don't understand is that two years is a long time away. Luongo will be up there in age. If he does somehow make the team, I could see him replacing Ward. Not Fleury or Price.

Phoenix Coyotes: Where Will They End Up?

Before I begin, I would just to inform all of you that because of the circumstances (missing the playoffs) this blog has become more of an NHL blog than a Habs blog for the rest of the season. I hope you all stick around and we'll be back talking Habs next season.  Which brings me to today's piece. There has been a lot of talk over the past couple years/ weeks about the Phoenix Coyotes potentially relocating. Here are a list of cities that could end up with an NHL team and why they are a good or bad fit for an NHL team. Kansas City Although there has already been a NHL team in Kansas City, I personally don't like the fit. When I think Kansas City, the last thing that comes to mind is hockey. While the city could probably bring in a solid amount of fans, as far as I know, there is no arena in the city that could seat 15,000+ people. Las Vegas I like Vegas more than I like Kansas City, but still, common, it's Vegas. The one main problem I have is that Vegas is
